I kneel and pray for the woes of a land
That mourns in distinct silence;
Once bolstering wills and words
Shredded into pieces of pain and pity.
Too many faces wear unhealthy sadness
And sorrow finds home in their hearts.
How is a lady or lad told to believe
When their souls no longer breathe?
I kneel for the wickedness that fills the air
With doleful melodies assuaging the dead
Crucified for chronic conviction and courage.
I kneel for the bereft and pray God heals us all.
It's a terrible thing I tell you
To bathe in the warmth of light and liberty
Yet, darkness sways within.
