In the field of honour |
Blind gazes with mutilated mights queue
In the field of honour observing a stony sky;
The gods remain unfazed,
Valour on sandy soil lie
Piteously on the lair of oblivion.
No mourners, all brothers
In arms fought for the stolen dignity
Of fathers, of sisters, of mothers
Bludgeon by the fury of glumness.
No more laughter in the land,
Glory lays lifeless in the sand
Defeated; mercy suffers blindness.
