Rivers Of Blood

River of Blood
My lungs gather the wind
And throw it downhill
To have twinges of shame fill
My heart that we rescind

The law of the Creator to love
And help one another;
We squelch and kill each other
And raise far above

Common sense and sanity,
Ill will and pride,
Dumping far aside
Goodness and kindness for cupidity.

Should our troubled tomorrow
Pay today for the errors of yesterday
And watch hope fade away,
Drinking the damage from soulful sorrow?

All men will the ground someday swallow-
Black and white, rich and poor;
And if only love is brought to the fore,
If only we breed animosity no more,
Then would rivers of blood cease to flow.
