Hear Our penitent past,
Plead in plangent pool of pity,
Politics betrayed and cast
With pieces spread from city to city
When elections no longer sought attention.
Bound your trust, impound your thumb,
Withdraw the vote
And sound the tocsin that wisdom may come
Garrison our hearts and our heads coat
For elections would soon woe attention.
