Just along a prosaic path
Laid worn, jaundiced jenny
Ensnared by furious flies
Irritant and so many.
Her time was up so fast,
Her hope began to wear,
Not a pity did any show
Jaundiced jenny without a care.
Her pain drew tears from me
And left in me her plea;
I have no med degree
Nor knowledge to set her free.
She winked just one more time
And gulped her last fresh air,
I heard her say adieu
And that life was unfair.
My emotions she made to peel,
I groped for deep relief,
Requiescat in Pace Jenny
I owe you two days grief.
