Give
it not a try
Else
you die
Was
the simple instruction
And
defiance carried a sanction.
The
tree could have been hidden,
Nay,
it was forbidden;
Placed
at the centre of the garden
And
if found guilty had no pardon.
Eat
it not,
Else
you rot.
Then
came Lucifer
With
wiliness to deceive her;
Shot
the ruse at eve
But
was too weak a vessel to weave.
What
a fruit before your eyes,
Said
Satan known for his lies;
Taste
of it for its sweetness,
For
I did and bear you witness
That
God did scare you
As
He once did to me too.
I
have tasted
And
years have I waited
For
the death He said
Would
spell my end.
Taste
of it for its sweetness,
For
I did and bear you witness
That
you will not die
Only
give it a try.
Out
of greed,
Eve
did
Give
it a try;
Then
came Adam asking why?
Not
for so long,
Adam
too did wrong;
Out
of greed,
Adam
did
Give
it a try;
Then
came God asking why?
There
was a game,
It
was called blame;
Adam
knew it well
But
God Almighty could tell
And
with wisdom and discreet
Caught
and exposed their secret.
Lucifer
was the cause,
But
it led to a curse
And
both was sent off Eden
That
till today remains hidden.
Both
became heirs of wrath
Losing
their treasures to devil’s moth;
They
had lost the place of glory,
O,
what a sorry story
And
with gratitude to Christ Jesus,
Sinners
now saints are we to have saved us
From
the power of darkness
Into
His marvellous Light and righteousness.
If
not for Jesus
Who
bore our sins at the Cross,
It
isn’t hard to tell
That
our lot was straight to hell.
Glory
be to God
And
to Jesus, our Saviour and our Lord.
