Nothing
compared to this feeling that lurks within
The
taste of victory running through our spines
Transcending
the waning severity of days gone by
It was
some kind of mêlée I couldn’t afford to lose
It was a
warfare we all had to win
Playing
by the rules, following instincts
Made the
journey worth the while
Crawling
semesters, swarming sessions
Like
they will never end
Paved
the way for this once in a life time moment
Dignified
and intensified passions curl round our hearts
In lieu
of the symbols of our glorious epochs
And in
every step of the way
Till
this very day melancholy was jostled to the rear,
The aura
of breakthrough kept watering our faces with sweet relief
Cuddling
the climax of another beginning
Not for
once will these memories fade
The
daily hellos of bosom friends met along the way
The angry
stares of academic antagonists and warlords
The throbbing,
the twinge
Spawning
the gargantuan hassling one had to bear
The
agony from ravaging week in, week out assignments
Inflicted
by lecturers’ wrath
Infuriating
group engagements with liberty
Granting
mates to evoke one’s mischievous sprite from within
With
every ounce of apathy and disgust they could lay bare
Not for
once will these memories erase
Words
certainly can’t express the echelon of elation being savored
Yeah! Our
ecstasies have never been this naked
In the
eyes of onlookers, well wishes and even foes
To the
glory and grace of our father who hath in heaven
Hallowed
be thy name to have seen us through
These
four years of …
Sigh! Bittersweet
was the ride if you care to know
And for
those of you trailing this path,
This I
only have to say:
Whine
not, Worry not
Stay
focused, remain focused
And if
not for anything,
Don’t be
a disappointment to your parents and to yourself.
Integrity
is all that matters; Perseverance is one thing that pays
And just
in due time,
You all
shall be in our shoes (Well, if you can afford to wear them)
When you
shall be celebrated, with faces raised up high gazing the sky
Saying: Thank God We Made It
