We live in a world
where everyone grapples to survive and succeed, with tragedies blooming
everywhere and the light at the end of the tunnel seeming very difficult to
behold.
Daily, we toil to see
our efforts rewarded with bliss and solace but end up at night with a dessert full
of frustration and anxiety. With all this setbacks and disappointments that
trail our every path in the course of living, very few still make ahead and go
all the way against all odds to succeed.
It has always been said
that the keys to success are ample but only little of these keys do you need to
open the doors of possibility for your accomplishments. The first of these keys
is a DREAM; having one makes life worth the while and keeps you going. The
second is a VISION; when others say seeing is believing, those with vision bask
in the philosophy of believing is seeing.
The third in the list
is the key of commitment. Experts told Benjamin Franklin to leave alone all the
foolish experiments with lightening, that it was a waste of time. Franklin did
not quit. He was committed! Also, was Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, they were
committed! Commitment gets you started while others stand, and keep you going
while others quit.
Most importantly, how
you think determines who you are and who you will become. The secret is not to
think you can’t do it but with optimism say, I can try. Ralph Emerson asserts
that everything begins with a thought. But then, you must think big, seeking
insights to propelling you to act in accordance with attaining your goal.
According to Daniel
Webster, “there is always room at the top.” But the invisible ladder to the top
can only be seen with the eyes of determination and a sense of purpose. Not
excluding faith in God and the belief in your abilities.
“His childhood was
marked by abject poverty, domestic violence, sexual abuse and family
illiteracy. Situations forced him with his son to sleep in bus stations, under
the desk in the office, bath in public rest room sink, etc but he kept
struggling till success was in sight.” The inspiration for the block buster
movie, the Pursuit of Happiness; he rose from hopelessness to wealth because he
didn’t stop trying to make it- his name is Christopher Gardner.
If Christopher can make
it, if Franklin can overcome his setbacks and make it, what stops you from
making it? Obama didn’t wait for the perfect moment to become president of USA;
he prepared himself and turned his circumstances to the best moments of his
life. And if he and others like Oprah Winfred, John Demartini with worse
situations can still make it, what is your excuse?
