There she stood
With a long intriguing stare at herself
In the mirror not very far away
Her lips had nothing to say
She had been called a bimbo
Gallivanting here and there
In search of nothing but lads to allure
Oblivious she was to her self-esteem
To have believed such a statement
From a judgmental and critical being
Blinded by envy and innate insensitivity
She had stood forlorn for long
Hopelessly ruminating on how she could face the
world
Not having to endure so much abasement and ridicule
From those who claim to know what’s best for her
Right before her very eyes
The lady in the mirror on the other side
Had vanished into thin air;
Too coy to be solely gazed upon
Leaving her alone all by herself
To seek succor and strength from within
For the mirror of the heart to surface
Portraying an array of motion pictures of her
Living life to the fullest;
Though, with criticisms here and there
But content with insight on who she is and could
possibly become.
Then, the message flashed across the eyes of her
soul:
That the mirror of life is vague and vain
Reflecting paradigms of who we are not
And only when we embrace our personalities
Behold ourselves with the mirror of the heart
Can we possibly attain ingenious perceptions
Of who we are for ourselves and by ourselves.
It’s always up to you
To seek the beauty within
Evincing to the world that you’re far more better
Than who and what everyone thinks you are
When you apparently are not.
Only the mirror of the heart should you employ
To reflect the pearl you would love to become.
