“That your yesterday was exceedingly bad
Is now but a stale story
If that’s why you look so sad,
I guess you deserve nothing but a simple sorry.” ~

It shouldn’t always be
about the craze for attaining good grades. It shouldn’t always be about flocking
around ‘lecturers’ just to acquire the Bachelor of Science without rigors and
seeing nothing more to improve about yourself. It should be about you living
purposefully and trying your very best not to become a liability to yourself,
your family, friends and to the society.
A thousand and one
youths are out there this very moment having nothing to really show to have
gone through the four walls of a school and experienced education. They simply
might have basked in the philosophy of getting degrees to open doors of
employment opportunities and make money- living the life they had always
wanted- only for their narrow-minded dreams and aspirations to be shattered by
odd epochs we find ourselves adjusting to these days.
For how long will you
keep hearing that there is no job out there for you? The only one that will
ever be is the one you have dimmed it fit to establish and nurture for and by
yourself. Many people will surely tell you otherwise, but it is up to you to
listen to the dangling bells of reality and awake not to simply embrace all
that life throws at you, which could be an exact opposite of what you had
wanted for yourself.
One of the prominent
plagues daunting our youths is their nonchalant and laissez-faire attitudes toward
seeking knowledge, in-depth knowledge and wisdom to live a better life. They
tend to resist the ideology of reading more, learning more and striving to know
more about who they are, who they should be and who they can possibly become,
if they persistently give their best in all they do.
Some are satisfied with
yesteryears ways of life and outmoded hypothesis of how easy it is to live a
good life by just having degrees and ‘with the right connections’, procure
shortcuts to happiness, which is the benchmark of success. Little do they know
that life entails more than what they had imagined.
True! It is never easy
to get what one truly needs and wants out of life. True! An array of challenges
may abound just to fetter your determination and it is true that at some point,
the very people you think would support you might turn out to be the ones who
will discourage and laugh at you. But it is never enough to give up on yourself
and let go of your dreams.
The fact is that there
will always be factors to hamper your growth; there will always be people who
would base their lives on cynicism and negativity; there will always be those
ones who will see no reason what so ever in making headway in life. Amidst all
these, YOU SHOULD BE THE EXCEPTION!
To be the exception,
you must be ready to take charge of your life, be responsible for your actions;
clutch firmly your dreams with commitment and never rest until you see that you
are better than who you were yesterday. Don’t let the lives of others be your
yardstick for excellence and growth. You are always unique in your own way.
Carve a niche for
yourself by being true to who you are and when some people choose to clamour
about bad governance, injustice, nepotism, corruption and succumb to excuses
while blaming and castigating others, look at them carefully, ask yourself
whether you wish to be like them and if your answer is ‘NO’ just like me,
strive to be an exception in the world but importantly, LIVE A HONEST LIFE AND A LIFE WORTH LIVING!
