Make light your burden

Happiness, so hard to keep
Because it’s built on things that sometimes become weak
Hopes and dreams that seem so real
Expectations that sometimes life can steal
Comparing ourselves to others near
Finding and losing people dear
Getting complacent with things we own
Forgetting how important we really are
A lonely heart wanting more
Sharing love in smiles
Trying to connect to a deeper cord
Only to share themselves with only the lord
An aching soul carrying regret
Their mind and heart put out to let
A child in joy sharing time in fun
Not knowing what his life will become
A gardeners crops destroyed and gone
Picking up the trowel to start again
As hard as it seems to not hate some things
Carrying it along with the feelings it brings
Is a far worse position
Than accepting life’s burden.
