Be not overwhelmed
If sometimes your nights are void of stars
You sing but no ear cares to listen
When your dreams delay to crop up and glisten
And still troubled by the past and its scourging
scars.
I hear you have wounds so deep
Covering at a snail's pace like it will never heal
With bitterness seeming like what you have to bear
and keep
As tears stream down your eyes like torrents to
evince how you feel.
As the pendulum swings
Life does pull its strings
Daring you not to stare at days gone by in the face
That you can make headway and set your sore memories
ablaze.
Be not overwhelmed
When situations impel you to be pensive
When everyone perceives you as dim-witted and
repulsive
Remember it could have been worse
Than those in coma bereft of sensations and a
hopeful pulse.
Though, in your heart are the arrows of anxiety’s
quiver
Always making you obnoxious and down with fever
Not like the dead of long ago dwelling in darkness
Believe you can rise again to witness your soul
embrace much happiness
But be not overwhelmed!
