The Land That Knows No Peace

In disarray the land mourns
Where there is killing, stealing, lying
And breaking of all bounds for murder to thrive
As inhabitants languish and are rendered helpless in strife.

The dwellers stumble by day
To have rejected knowledge
Guts and gusto to say
Sorry when they shove others to a mired edge.

Their glory has changed into infamy
Condensing their prestige to statues of contempt
For aspirations to walk unsafe
As adultery becomes all they have to cherish and save.

They eat but are never satisfied
For a spirit of gluttony has led them astray
Leaving their God to play the lost prey
With their hearts guilty of palpitations while utterly stupefied.

The people gallivant on stubborn feet
Moving swiftly to induce vinegary tears
In those eyes that were watching God
Now too weak to even cope but still believe in hope.

Awakening twilight reveals search lights
And souls hungry for redemption and ease
At the dawn of a new moon and much starlight
In the land that knows no peace.

Hitherto, none is ready to contend
With the draconian vicious circle that stirs them in the face
But choose to yield and pretend
Living not a farce for everything to fall in place.
