When all you feel is being washed up

And left to sigh in misery

With a torment you can’t cope,

You can make it only if you don’t lose hope.

When your solace is robbed by anguish

And your vision clouded with gloom

Enough to make your heart beat meaninglessly,

When your burden is as heavy as the sand of the sea

While ignominy is all that you see

As your thoughts go out of bound without a haven,

Sometimes, we ask why life is given to the bitter in soul

Who long for death, but it comes not;

And though the things you dread befall you,

You can make it only if you don’t lose hope.

Sometimes, it’s OK not to be OK

To understand what it means to be OK

But no matter the measure of the pain you go through,

You can make it only if you don’t lose hope.

When life garb you with a saturnine sarong

And all you do seem awful and implicitly wrong

Even to those you look up to; to those that look up to you,

You can make it only if you don’t lose hope.

And as people out there struggle for safety

As they struggle for acceptance and self esteem

As they struggle to live and make a living

You can make it only if you don’t lose hope.

Only if you don’t lose hope

Then can you make it

And with God’s grace engendering your patience and perseverance,
