Don't Long To Belong

You need not long for who you are not
Just because you want to belong
To the league of geniuses, which you may not
In a society many crave to belong.

The trails of others some follow
Will eventually turn dim and shallow;
Narrow enough to see them fall
As confusing convictions twist their heads round like a ball.

Life is never about the action
You portray when displaying your fashion;
For this in the race of life, many are miles away
Losing their lucidity in an exasperating way.

Taciturn tales have gone round
But some are yet to be found;
And this path many have procured perilous pastures,
Do you seek it too?

It takes nothing to be you
But sacrifices and vivid convictions meant to spawn in you;
This choice we all have faced with our faces
When life's adversities taunt us in phases.

...But one beautiful thing about life
Is that it pays to be you;
Even when all odds militate against your dreams,
For once in your life, don't long to belong.
Just be you and remain true.
