Behind That Smile; Learn To Adjust To Reality

Behind that smile
Is a striving father
Seeking to be accepted by his family;
Behind that smile,
Is a toiling mother
Waiting to be loved by her children and husband.
Behind that smile,
Is a son, daughter, friend
Always aspiring to please someone somewhere, somehow.
Things may not turn out the way you had wanted
But in every colossal menial circumstance,
Stop thinking like a victim
Expecting others to rescue you,
To console you,
To feel sorry for you,
Or to reduce your stress level.
Get behind the wheel of your own life
And take control of the steering.
You are never helpless
Unless you feel so;
Your situation is never hopeless
Unless you think so;
Instead of banging your head against the wall of reality,
Invest your efforts into changing what you can,
And what you ought to,
Like changing your attitude and approach to life.
Why prefer to cling to the past?
It takes more energy to hang on to old beliefs and creed
Than to embrace new ones;
Frustration only awaits you
When you keep competing and comparing yourself with others.
Even when life is a race,
Tracks and Laps are meant to change;
Thus, if you must avoid dismay,
If you don’t want o burn out,
Learn to adjust to reality,
As you change your life’s gear and impetus.
Each day is as though a new game
With new rules and pattern;
Let go of old rules and learn new ones,
Otherwise, you will keep losing.
Stop trying to control the uncontrollable;
When life’s music changes,
It entails you learn new dance steps.
You may not like the changes,
But you can learn to flow with them.
Know where you stand,
But refuse to flow with the crowd.
When life’s challenges trial your door step,
Don’t try to give up
Without even trying your best.
The time is yet to come
When you will realize that the more you get knocked down,
The stronger you tend to be
When you get up again and keep going.
Until then, just keep your head up high
And bear in mind that
With God, all things are possible.
